The Norwich City of Ale Charity Beer Banquet takes place on Thursday, May 31, at Norwich's Maids Head Hotel, on Tombland.

It will be part of the 2018 City of Ale Trail and is raising money for Break, which supports vulnerable children and young people across East Anglia.

The banquet will include a reception drink, four-course taster menu with accompanying beers and tips from a beer sommelier.

Tickets cost £40 per person and tables for eight-10 people are available.

The charity event is being supported by Norfolk and Suffolk breweries including Norfolk Day sponsor Woodforde's Brewery, Panther Brewery, Elmtree Beers, St Peter's Brewery, Grain Brewery and Redwell Brewing.

The event comes on the final day for name submissions for a new Norfolk Day 'sunshine session ale', to be made by Woodbastwick-based Woodforde's Brewery.

It is working with Break for the Norfolk Day competition.

The inaugural Norfolk Day, also sponsored by Richardson's Hemsby Beach Holiday Park, takes place on Friday, July 27, and is being backed by the Eastern Daily Press, Norwich Evening News and BBC Radio Norfolk.

Dozens of communities, businesses, charities and individuals have organised a variety of events to celebrate the special event.

These include street parties, a mental health discussion, a rural reed cutting demonstration, Norfolk-themed food menus and photographic competitions, plus many more.

The beer will be launched at the Royal Norfolk Show on June 27 and 28 and available to buy until the end of September with a percentage of sale proceeds going to Break.

Woodfordes chief executive James Hughes said: 'We're looking for a name that will be unique to Norfolk... The label design will incorporate the yellow and black colours of the Norfolk Day logo so we're after something that will really stand out and represent the county.'
