Pupils at South Wootton Infant School enjoyed a street party in their playground to celebrate the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee yesterday.

Some 170 pupils joined their teachers and other school staff in eating their lunch outside on tables decorated in Union Jacks.

West Norfolk mayor Geoffrey Wareham later visited the school to present commemorative coins to pupils, aged between five and seven, for the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee.

Headteacher Jo Davenport said: “The children loved it because they were dressed up and got to go outside to have their lunch. They were really excited when they came out to see all the decorated tables.”
