Snow is on its way across the county, forecasters are predicting.

Wintry showers are predicted across the county for today, while tomorrow parts of Norfolk could see up to 8cm of snow.

Chris Bell, a forecaster for UEA-based Weatherquest, said: “For the rest of today and tonight we will be mainly dry but there will continue to be some wintry flurries not really amounting to any accumulation.

“Tomorrow in the morning in the west of the county, around King’s Lynn and Downham Market, it is a potential we could get a bit of light snow. The further east we go it is mainly dry with the occasional flurry.

“From tomorrow afternoon from 2pm or 3pm onwards we are going to start to see more significant amounts of snow spreading in from the north west.

“Late afternoon and evening is the main concern for here. There is likely to be an accumulation of snow across most of the county - from 3pm in the west, in the Norwich area after dark, and through the course of the evening on the east coast.

“There will be between 4cm to 8cm of snow in places.”

He said most of the county will wake up to wintry conditions on Tuesday morning.

“Tuesday and Wednesday we are going to continue to see the potential of snow showers coming in from the North Sea.

“We are probably going to see about 2cm or 3cm of of fresh snow on top of the snow from Monday,” he said.

“It is a pretty wintry scene for most of the week with temperatures around zero or below for most of the time.

“It will become dry in the later part of the week, but looking towards next weekend there is the potential of more snow.”
