Heavy snowfall on Sunday continues to cause problems in Diss this morning, making road conditions difficult and closing a number of schools in the area.
So far, there has been no additional snowfall on top of the weekend falls and main roads in the town, including Victoria Road and Roydon Road were largely passable for traffic, though slush was causing problems for some cars making it difficult for tyres to grip.
However, driving conditions on untreated side roads were worse with many having a couple of inches of snow.
A number of schools in the area are closed today due to the conditions, including Diss High School, Diss Junior School and Diss Infants and Nursery school, though examinations at the high school were due to take place as planned.
Schools in nearby villages were also closed, including Forncett St Peter Primary School, Hapton Primary School, Hempnall Primary School, Hethersett High School and junior school and Hethersett Woodside Infant and Nursery School, while Long Stratton High School, Old Buckenham High School and primary school, Rockland St Mary Primary School and Roydon Primary School also failed to open due to the weather.
St Andrew’s School at North Lopham was also shut, along with Tivetshall Primary School, Wicklewood Primary School, Attleborough High School, Aslacton Primary School, Ashleigh Infant and Nursery School, Burston Primary School and the Wymondham High Academy, which closed when bus companies reported travel conditions were too dangerous, though examinations were planned to continue.
