A Sky Sports presenter will be leaving his job at the end of the football season following the death of his wife.

Norwich-born Simon Thomas made the decision after becoming a single parent when his wife Gemma died of Leukaemia.

In a post on his personal blog, A Grief Shared, Mr Thomas wrote: 'It's with a heavy, but peaceful heart that I write these words: I have decided to leave Sky at the end of the season.'

Mr Thomas has often discussed grief on television and social media since Gemma's death 22 weeks ago and says his main concern now is his eight-year-old son.

He said: 'That first morning after she went I remember Ethan coming up to me in the lounge and through his tears he said these words 'Daddy, you know every weekend you go away and do the football, and I spend the weekend with Mummy, what do I do now?' And they have stuck with me ever since.'
