A sign belonging to a community first responder which was stolen from her vehicle on Prince of Wales Road last weekend has been returned.

Sue Lamonte had appealed for the magnetic plate which had been taken from her Nissan Micra while she was assisting the SOS Bus on Saturday night to be returned.

The sign had been taken some time between 9.30pm and 11.30pm after a group of people were seen around her car.

This morning a road sweeper handed the sign in to the Rose Lane car park after finding it lying in the road.

Ms Lamonte said she has also been approached by CiM Signs and Graphics, who have offered to make some new signs for free.

'It is nice to have them back because now we can be seen as the professionals we are, and we can be recognised appropriately by police when we are working,' she said.
