A Norfolk school has paid tribute to the “lovely” teenage girl who died after being struck by a bus in Caister.

Shannon Goodson, 14, was a pupil at Great Yarmouth High School and has been described as a “popular” student.

Headteacher Wendy Missons said in a statement: “We were all shocked and deeply sorry to hear of the accident, and there were many tears.

“Shannon was a lovely, popular girl and will be deeply missed by students, staff and all those who worked with her.

“Our thoughts are with Shannon’s family at this difficult time: we are here for you.”

Hundreds of people have also taken to social media to pay tribute to the “beautiful” teen while more than 4,900 people have ‘liked’ a Facebook page set up in her name.

Among those posting on the site was Liz Irving who said: “My heartfelt sympathy goes to the family of this beautiful child taken before her life’s journey really started, thinking of her family and friends x.”

A police investigation into the circumstances of Saturday’s fatal crash is ongoing, as officers continue to appeal for witnesses.

Call the serious collision investigation team on 101.
