A major search of the River Yare near Norwich was carried out in the early hours today after reports that a man was still missing after four people in a small boat had fallen into the water in Thorpe St Andrew, near Norwich.

Norfolk police, the East of England Ambulance Service, Yarmouth Coastguard and the RNLI’s lifeboat from Oulton Broad were called to City Boats in Griffin Lane, following the incident, which happened just before 1am.

After a search of the surrounding area Yarmouth Coastguard stood down all units as the fourth person had been found safe and well on land.

Fire crews from Sprowston and Norwich along with the emergency tender and rescue boat from Norwich also assisted in the search.
