I want to complain about this content:

I have a feeling that the tendency to close schools is not unconnected to the prevalence of digital communication whereby head teachers can use e-mails and social networking sites to receive reports from staff intending to be absent and communicate the closure to parents very rapidly. If staff had to personally talk to the head and explain their inability to present themselves for duty, and if heads had to actually go to the school, stand at the gate and justify their decision to the parents, I suspect the number of closure would drop to just the handful with a failed heating system [pity they don't buy a few portable heaters instead of wasting thousands on useless outings and other uneducational activities].
