Easton College was ram-raided on Saturday night and a cash machine was stolen from the sports centre.
Thieves used a stolen 4x4 to smash the glass doors at the sports centre at about 8.30pm.
Offenders entered the foyer and used the vehicle to remove a free standing ATM which was lifted into the back of a second car, a dark coloured hatchback, which suspects escaped in.
The stolen 4x4, a grey Mitsubishi Pajero, had been taken from the car park at Asda in Hellesdon, near Norwich, earlier that night between 7pm and 7.30pm and was left at the crime scene.
The ATM contained a large quantity of cash, mainly in £5 notes, and officers are also keen to hear from anyone using large amounts of £5 notes in transactions.
Detective Sergeant Andy Barker, from Norwich CID, said: “It appears that four men were involved in the theft and we’re keen to hear from anyone who has information.
“We know from eye-witnesses that the boot of the hatchback was not closed properly because the cash machine did not fit. This would be fairly distinctive to other motorists who may have seen the vehicle in the area on Saturday night and I would ask them to come forward.”
Anyone with information should contact Det Con Steve Hunt Norwich CID on 101 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
