Cathedral choristers and local schools have joined together to celebrate music and song.
The Cathedral Choir has been working with pupils at Freethorpe Primary School, St Peter’s CofE VC Primary School in Easton, and Queens Hill Primary School, and everyone took part in special performance at Norwich Cathedral on Wednesday.
Andrew Weeks, Norwich School music teacher and tutor to the choristers, has been overseeing the singing project which was set up by Norwich Cathedral and Norwich School.
He said: “It has been a pleasure to work with so many young children, giving them the opportunity to learn new repertoire and to engage in an exciting and wide-ranging singing programme. We have had fun singing nonsense songs, WW1 songs and traditional African spirituals.”
Ashley Grote, the cathedral’s master of music, said: “Seeing so many children singing in the cathedral, supported by their parents, families and friends is a great thrill, and we hope that many other schools will have the opportunity to take part in the new scheme in the years ahead.”
