Problems on Vodafone mobile phone network for thousands in Norfolk

PUBLISHED: 17:09 02 April 2013 | UPDATED: 17:21 02 April 2013

People who have mobile phones on the Vodafone network are suffering service problems in some parts of Norfolk at the moment.

A spokesman for Vodafone said an “intermittent problem” at a site in north Norfolk is having a knock-on effect to service in other areas of the county.

She said: “We continually monitor the network and we can see that we have some performance issues in parts of Norfolk which will be affecting the service for some customers.

“We know how frustrating this is and we are doing what we can to get the service back to normal.”

The spokesman said engineers were working on the problems, before adding: “At the same time, rural coverage generally is not as comprehensive as it is in built up areas, major towns and cities.

“We are always to looking to improve this and bring our services to more people. Our network sharing agreement with O2 will bring about improvements in rural areas over time.”

  • This is week 4 that the Vodafone signal in and around Aylsham, but also travel locally around 50 miles Fakenham, Kings Lynn area has been rubbish and with all the family and friends all having the same problem it has made communication useless.... i also work from home and my mobile is the link i have to customers and the office so all in all not great ; cant believe when BLACKBERRY had the signal problems it was all over the news, but Vodafone seem to have missed the bad press!!!

  • The phrase “intermittent problem” is rather a joke as in Great SnoringFakenham the signal is nil but with a Vodafone Sure signal box at least we can use the phone in the house. When will the mobile companies update the signal in North Norfolk?

  • Since reliable O2, TMobile and Orange can carry my emergency calls, Vodafone should arrange for O2, TMobile or Orange to carry all my our traffic at their cost until such time as they can give us a quality reliable service, not one which has an outage 1 day in 3.

  • Had intermittent signal in North Walsham for months, emailed customer "care" to be told "Thank you for contacting Vodafone customer service in regards to Network issue. Joanne, I am sorry to hear that you are having inconvenience because of the network. I've track the network coverage and I can confirm that the network coverage for your area is excellent. " really Vodafone i beg to differ! Took out an extra contract for an ipad last year and was fine at first and now have a pretty brick to match my useless iphone and paying £70 for the privilege. (Unless i use my own wifi)

  • Absolutely NO vf signal in West Runton (NR27) today, either 3G or 2G. I have a PAYG Orange sim and that works fine. Once my contract is up, I will be migrating to Orange, as I can't lose my number. I rang vf (vodafone) to complain and I was offered a discount on a suresignal box. As I then pointed out to the adviser, I have to PAY for the suresignal box, so that I can then PAY to use vf's network, overy MY broadband that I PAY BT for. So I am paying 3 times due to vf's lack of signal.

  • The signal here at North Norfolk has been on and off since Oct 12 and was non existent all over Xmas and again the past few days over Easter. When you ring Vodafone they fob you off with something different everytime. Suggest the more people that ring them to complain the better plus please sign the online campaign http:norfolklabour.co.ukcampaignsphone-signalvodafone-petition ..

  • My business is Approx 500 yds from the mast on North Walsham Industrial Estate and again today the signal has dropped or as they now call it an OUTAGE. I have complained so many times it is ridiculous. We use our phones for business. Which is difficult with no signal ! This has been like this for a few years and is not something new! ! ! !

  • Have had loss of 3g services (and havent been able to call out) since mid week last week. Phoned Vodaphone on saturday and have had to switch phone to 2g to enable phone calls to be made. This is effecting both myself and my boyfriend. We are living in sprowston, Norwich.... maybe not just north norfolk! No explanation given and still not working!

  • Those of us in the Dereham area have had to put up with poor service from Vodaphone for about two or more years with promises" that they are doing something about it", about a year ago they said they were joining up with O2, but it just seems to get worse.

  • I say send your complaints to watchdog maybe then Vodafone will realise how wide scale the problem is and how disgusted its customers are with the lack of service and the poor public relations maybe we might even see some compensation .... But I wouldn't hold your breath on that one !! I for one will be sending my full complaint to watch dog so Vodafone wake up and smell the coffee!!!!

  • Since Dec 16th I have had no or poor service 30 days out of 106 which means 28% of the time I am without service, nearly 1 day in 3. Today is the 5th day I am unable to send texts or make calls, except emergency calls using reliable 02, Orange or TMobile! Voda profess to be doing all they can to fix the fault, yet I was told that no Voda engineers would work Easter Sat, Sun or Mon to fix our outage; they'd start Tuesday. Now if we had a Buck Palace or Westminster postcode somehow I suspect things would be different......

  • Vodafone have given a half baked answer. As the petition shows it is not intermittent, it is flat out for thousands of customers in areas that can get a good signal normally.

  • We have a good phone signal but slow and intermittent data signal, often absent or dropping out. It is our only form of internet access as we have no landline or broadband. We have complainted numerous times and been fobbed off with promises of a better signal being imminent, but it has never materialised. We have even complained through the onbudsman and been awarded with a £50 'compensation' payment - but no better data signal!
