With news that the Cornish will be recognised as a national minority group, we are asking whether the same status should be extended to Norfolk people.

Cabinet minister Danny Alexander said the decision meant for the first time Cornish people would receive the same rights and protections as other minorities in the UK.

It means they are classified under the European Framework Convention for the Protection of National Minorities the same as the UK’s other Celtic people, the Scots, the Welsh and the Irish.

Do you think Norfolk deserves similar recognition and protection, whether it be traditions passed down from generation to generation or the county’s unique accent and dialect?

Do you think Norfolk people have an identity that is similar to the Cornish?

What are the most distinctive aspects of Norfolk’s character? Are there any traditions that are under threat and need preserving, or are there Norfolk traditions that are thriving, despite population changes and the influence of national media and American culture?
