Detectives in Norwich are urging homeowners to be vigilant following burglaries over the weekend.
A large quantity of jewellery, including a valuable ring featuring 19 diamonds which is worth about £3,000, was stolen from a house in Soleme Road, off Margaret Paston Avenue, some time between 5pm and 6pm on Sunday after raiders smashed a pane of glass in the back door before using the key left inside the lock to get in.
Bottles of alcohol were also stolen in the burglary during which the offenders also removed the gas fire, leaving it next to the fireplace.
Meanwhile, between 2am and 7.15am yesterday suspects entered a mid-terraced house in Romany Road through an unlocked front door.
Offenders carried out a search of the living room and stole a laptop from inside.
The incidents come as police continue to investigate a number of break-ins across the city and householders are urged to be vigilant.
Residents are urged to make sure doors and windows are locked overnight as well as when leaving the house and to contact police if they witness anything out of the ordinary.
