The victim was at a stop at Market Gates shopping centre in Regent Road waiting for a bus to Gorleston, when he was struck over the head with a rolled up newspaper by one of the girls, who also shouted abuse at him.

She walked away with the other two girls but moments later they approached him again and the second girl grabbed him while shouting abuse. The victim was then assaulted again by the third girl before they walked away.

The man was uninjured but police now want to trace the girls involved, and are appealing for witnesses.

One of the girls wore a cream coloured top and had short blonde hair, the second wore a blue tracksuit top and had very long dark hair in a ponytail and the third had short dark brown hair and wore a dark tracksuit top.

Anyone who witnessed the assault, which happened between 6pm and 6.30pm on Saturday, should call PC Julie Bringloe on 101.
