Police helicopter involved in search following assault in Norwich

A man has suffered head and hand injuries after being assaulted in the centre of Norwich today.

A Norfolk police spokesman said officers were called to Quayside shortly after 1pm following reports that a man had been injured. The man has been taken to hospital to be treated for his injuries.

The police spokesman confirmed that the police helicopter had been involved in a search following the incident this afternoon.

“Inquiries are continuing and we are carrying out searches in and around the city,” the spokesman said.

An East of England Ambulance Service spokesman said a man in his 30s was treated for head and hand injuries and was taken by land ambulance to the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital.
