The Plasterers Arms, on Cowgate, will give people a free pint if they provide confirmation they have registered to vote.

People have until 11.59pm on Monday, May 22 to register ahead of the election on June 8.

Landlord Benjamin Thompson, 31, said: 'I'm doing this because I think it's incredibly important that people vote in this election. There has never been so much at stake.

'If people bring their registration confirmation code or email to the pub I will give them a free pint.'

Mr Thompson said the offer will only apply to those who have not registered to vote previously.

Customers will be able to chose from any beer or cider on tap.

The idea started at pubs and restaurants in Bristol this month to try and encourage millennials to get down to the polling stations.
