The traditional fair on the village green took place yesterday and was enjoyed by hundreds of people.

There were 25 entries in the scarecrow competition, which included a large horse and a royal guard.

Avril Houseago, 63, from Gressenhall, said: “It is wonderful. Gressenhall is a village that really comes together. It is really good for a small village.”

Each year a traditional fair is put on for the community, but this was the first year a soap box derby was held.

“The idea was to get dads and lads together. Hopefully it will be the first of many,” said event organiser Kevin Daniels.

Children’s races, a Punch and Judy show and games including a coconut shy were also put on for the community.

The event was paid for by East Bilney Coachworks.
