There were long lines of people at the stores at Oxborough Lane, Fakenham and Hall Road Retail Park, Norwich in anticipation of the 10am openings.

The sale began today with more than 40,000 product lines and £5m worth of stock be offered at reduced prices.

Discounts of up to 70pc off are being offered to enable stock to be cleared so the company’s two stores to be re-designed.

Every single item in every department is being offered at a marked down price, including sofas, chairs, dining room furniture, beds, bedroom furniture, lamps, pictures, mirrors, lighting, kitchen items, gifts, linens and more.

The sale will continue until the Aldiss management is happy that stock is at a level where they can go ahead with their redesign plans.

The stores will remain open while the redesign is carried out.

It has been estimated that the sale could be over in just five days but may last longer.
