A Norwich man, with the assistance of the police, has helped to rescue a runaway Shetland pony from a busy city road this morning.

Norfolk Police received a number of calls at around 11.25am today from worried motorists who were concerned about the “small, brown” animal running loose along Yarmouth Road, heading towards Dussindale.

A police spokesman confirmed that a man had been seen outside the Rushcutters Arms at around 11.40am helping the Shetland pony to safety and securing it.

He was assisted by police officers.
