Meet the four faces of the new bonny babies chosen to model a Norfolk blanket designer’s latest collection.
Following dozens of entries, Darcie, Dexter, Eli and Willow were hand-picked to star in the Charlotte Cot Blankets new catalogue.
The blankets are created by Charlotte Dean, of Heigham Road, Norwich, who started making personalised baby blankets in late 1993 - shortly after moving to the city with her husband Gordon and their then baby daughter Lily.
And to celebrate two decades in business, the 55-year-old wanted to share her success by having babies and toddlers model her creations for a new brochure and website.
“I am very pleased with all the bonnie babies and photos,” she said. “It was a great success.
“We picked the ones that had the wow factor.”
Her second daughter Rose was the original model for some of her early blankets and now the winning babies - who are aged between four and eight months old - have modelled new blanket designs, as well as some of Mrs Dean’s classic favourites.
“We’d like to say thank you to everyone who replied and sent photos. They were all lovely babies and it was very difficult to choose.”
Based in her studio off Earlham Road, she began knitting at the age of 22 and creates hats, mittens and Christmas stockings, as well as the handmade-to-order blankets.
They are made unique by the personalised details, such as a child’s name or date of birth, being knitted into the design rather than sewn or stuck on.
And each blanket is individually made from two layers of knitted cotton or wool.
Inspired by Victorian samplers, Edwardian toys, nursery rhymes and a nostalgia for her own 1950s childhood, the blankets have attracted the eye of celebrities from the Dutch royal family to recent Oscar winners.
