Residents at a Norwich care home not only celebrated the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee last week, but also re-lived a visit from Her Majesty to their home in 1992.

Doughty’s care home, formerly Doughty’s Hospital, near Anglia Square, made a real effort with the red, white and blue bunting to mark the occasion.

Denise Winter, administrator at the Golden Dog Lane care home, said: “We had a tea party at one end of the room and a lot of memorabilia at the other, with lots of coronation things that our residents have collected over the years.

“Our matron brought in a stool that her grandfather had sat on during the coronation in 1952. And the Queen actually visited here when she was in the city in 1992 and we have an official album which she signed.”

The residents enjoyed the tea party with some entertainment, including a comedy sketch and a sing-along, last Thursday afternoon.
