The sound of over 100 scooters buzzed through Norwich city centre this morning, as part of a weekend of fundraising events for the Teenage Cancer Trust.

The events, organised by Norwich shop Mod One, based in Magdalen Street, is one of 17 across the country raising money for the charity this month.

The Norwich event started on Saturday night in the Top of the Terrace function room at Carrow Road, where the last hour of a regular Motown night was devoted to March of the Mods and Norwich City Football Club agreed £1 from each ticket could go towards the charity.

Then yesterday around 100 scooters rode through the city, starting and finishing at Epic Studios, also in Magdalen Street, where a fashion show, stalls, food, live music and a bar were enjoyed into the evening.

David Hanton, a director of Mod One, from Hellesdon, said over £4,000 had been raised.

He said: “It’s been bigger than we ever expected with over 100 scooters on the ride-out and a lot more (around 400) through the door at the venue, so it’s been brilliant fun.”
