Crowds at Blakeney Quay were treated to a nautical carnival today (Saturday) when more than 50 boats sailed along the harbour as part of a flotilla to celebrate the jubilee.

Covered in bunting the various vessels weaved their way around the Quay waving at the hundreds of people who joined in the fun with a spot of crabbing.

Parish councillor Louise Leonard praised the “community spirit” of Blakeney.

She said: “Everyone has been involved from the village and they’ve all come together.

“It’s all about bringing them all together and having fun. It’s also an opportunity to explain to the children about what a jubilee is and about the royal family.”

The celebrations will continue on Monday with a street party in the High Street from 2pm onwards. There will be crown and bunting making for the children and Mister Fied, the children’s entertainer, will make an appearance from 4pm.

Commemorative mugs will also be presented to the children and a beacon lighting will take place at church tower 10.15pm.
