Overnight closures are set to take place on the A11 during April as part of the road’s dualling project.
The closures, which will take place from April 2 to 4 between Fiveways roundabout and the B1106 Elveden crossroads, will allow the Highways Agency to continue work on the recently installed Gibson’s accommodation bridge, carry out works on the new southbound carriageway near Fiveways roundabout and surfacing works to prepare for the tie-in of the new Elveden bypass into the existing carriageway.
During the work, the A11 will be closed in both directions from 10pm to 6am the following morning. The work is expected to complete by 6am on April 5.
Geoff Chatfield, Highways Agency project manager, said: “Work on the A11 dualling and improvement scheme is progressing well and as planned.
“We have to close a short section of the A11, when traffic flows are at their lowest, to allow road workers to safely continue work at Gibson’s accommodation bridge. We will also make the most of this closure to carry out other essential work on the existing A11, minimising disruption to road users.
“This work will bring us one step closer to delivering smoother, faster journeys along and around the A11 in Suffolk. We have worked closely with local partners to ensure disruption to road users during the closures is kept to a minimum.”
There will be a signed diversion via the A1065 and B1107 during the closures.
A Highways Agency spokesman said road users are advised to plan ahead and allow extra time for their journeys prior to setting out.
