An up-and-coming young wrestler from Norwich has been signed to the proving ground for one of the biggest entertainers in the world.
Saraya Jade-Bevis – also known as Britani Knight – is living the dream stateside, performing in live shows in Florida having been talent scouted and signed by Florida Championship Wrestling (FCW), the training ground for the future stars of World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE).
Formerly known as WWF, WWE brands itself as the ultimate ambition for any wrestler.
Ms Bevis, who is wrestling in America under the name Saraya, is currently in Tampa, Florida, and has already featured in a six-girl ‘battle royale’ less than two days after landing on the east coast of America.
Ms Bevis’ mother, Julia Hamer, who wrestles under the name Sweet Saraya, said: “I’m heart-broken she’s left home but happy she’s there. She’s a bit homesick but it looks like she’ll be picked to be on TV soon.
“It seems like Facebook is made for her, people across the world are talking about her. The whole world is buzzing for Britani Knight.
“My husband [wrestler Ricky Knight] has been in business 25 years and he’s never seen anything like it.
“She is the first 19-year-old girl from Europe to venture into FCW, and I think they’ll fast-track her.”
Ms Bevis’ brother Zak Bevis, who wrestles as Zak Zodiac and Hooligan Bex, is also being watched by the American wrestling powers that be, and is attending trials for FCW in April.
Ms Bevis, her parents and two of her brothers make up WAW Wrestling in Norwich, an independent wrestling company that regularly put on shows across the country.
Their next show is February 19, at New Road Community Centre, North Walsham.

Why are so many duplicate comments being allowed? And so much cheap free advertising entirely unconnected to the story?

As a member of the WAW roster, I am pleased to say I trained alongside britani knight, and saw her evolve into what a true pro wrestler should be. WAW academy will be at Owen barnes hall, breckland road this Sunday. Come and see that WAW makes stars. The best wrestling school in the country.

Great news, after a few UK males wrestlers it's about time a female got a chance to work for the biggest company in the world, I just hope the WWE dint waste her talent, go and impress Vince Britani!!!

Saraya is a fantastic girl that deserves the best of everything in life. Her whole family is made up of talented experienced wrestlers that Norwich should be proud of. To all the people that think wrestling is fake I challenge you to attend a training session with Sarayas family (1st weekend of every month at Breckland Community Centre) if you have the courage. Then tell me its fake! Good luck Saraya you are amazing.

Well, I for one am buzzing for her, love or hate wrestling she has made it to the top of her tree at the tender age of 19!!!!! I suppose if it was a 16yr old footie sensation then everyone would be screaming it from the rooftops!!!! Well done Saraya-Jade I hope to see you soon on Sky TV and I know Norwich will be so proud of you. Fly the flag for England!

As a member of the WAW roster, I can say in confidence, that Britani Knight is a future WWE superstar. FACT. I have watched her for the past 3 years I have been with them (WAW), and her skills have improved and evolved. She is as good as, if not head and shoulders above the current divas in WWE as far as skill is concerned. WAW is regarded by many as the best wrestling school in the UK. This sunday, WAW Academy will host their monthly show at Owen Barnes Room, Breckland Road, New Costessey. Sunday january 15th, 6:30pm. Be there !
