The Royal Family joined pupils and teachers for the Town Close School jubilee celebrations in Norwich

Youngsters at schools in Norwich had to begin their jubilee celebrations a little early to ensure they had time to party before beginning their half-term break.

Among the many schools organising picnics, parties and balloon releases were Kinsale Infant School in Hellesdon and Town Close School off Ipswich Road in Norwich.

Children at Kinsale Infants dressed in red, white and blue as they enjoyed an afternoon of celebrations including a magic show and a picnic with their parents, brothers and sisters.

Headteacher Louise Robinson said: “Despite the weather, everyone had a fantastic time, enjoying time to talk, laugh and eat picnic food together.

“The children had also spent time learning about the jubilee celebrations and what this means for our country at this special time.”

At Town Close preparatory school, pupils dressed in red, white and blue formed the number 60 on the field to mark the Diamond Jubilee.

During their celebrations, they were joined by some familiar royal faces as youngsters donned masks to ensure the presence of the Queen, Prince Philip, Prince Charles, William, Kate and Harry, was felt.
