A Norwich pub has pulled off a major coup by signing up NME and London Wide Radio DJ Madhatter Paul, also known as Paul Wellings, for a weekly Saturday night schedule in 2014.
The DJ has re-located to Norwich from London and has become a regular at the Ketts Tavern in Ketts Hill.
Amy Hodgson, from the Ketts Tavern, said: “Paul has been in here a few times. We got chatting one night and it sounded an exciting idea. We hope it will bring a diverse crowd to our pub.”
DJ Madhatter Paul said: “I started going over to the Ketts Tavern for the West Ham games as they’re my team. “It has almost become my local as I live nearby. They seemed a friendly crowd and the staff were very kind plus my kids played the free pool there with me and liked it.
“Even though I’ve been very privileged to briefly warm-up at the world’s leading venues like Ibiza’s Pacha and Space this will be a very different night as I intend to play eclectic pub classics from the ‘40s to the noughties to appeal to everyone.
“It’s not about the mixing for me - it’s the music the crowd wants that matters and I’ll take requests too. “We’re hoping the football fans will stay on for the music after the games. It should be a cool night.”
The DJ nights start on January 18 for a trial 3-month period from 8pm to midnight.
