Ms Smith will be planting a pear tree from Downham Market, the area that she grew up in, at Hillside Avenue allotments nature reserve, at 3pm on Saturday, March 10.

Town clerk, Steven Ford, said: “The tree is an old English variety that our tree warden has obtained together with some more old English apple and pear trees from Broadland District Council under a tree warden scheme.

“The fruit tree will compliment the bee hives that we have on the reserve.”
