Fraudsters tried to scam a great-grandmother from Old Catton on Saturday by selling insurance.
They claimed that if she transferred £300 to them, the 79-year-old would never need to buy health or home insurance again.
The caller, who said they were from Goa in India, told Daphne Jones from Brightwell Road in Old Catton to head to a shop on Aylsham Road to transfer the money.
They told her to call a London number when the transfer was complete.
Mrs Jones said: “The call lasted about 30 minutes. They thought I was going to go to the shop there and then and do it.
“I put the phone down on them and they rang me straight back.”
When the Evening News rang the London number, the phone was answered by a woman who tried to sell insurance.
