A former Norwich High School for Girls student wowed judges at Sandringham Flower Show this year and won gold for her glorious garden.
Emily Smith, 21, from Sco Ruston near Coltishall won the prestigious award after two consecutive years of silver medals for her garden under the theme this year of Tea for Two, which incorporated a giant tea cup sculpture, bunting, tea and cakes.
Miss Smith, pictured, says she has always been passionate about creating beautiful and comfortable gardens.
She said: “People had always said to me that if I got a chance to enter into Sandringham them I should – so when I was offered a place in 2009 I took it.”
Miss Smith had been planning the design for her entry for the garden space on the royal estate since last year, but she never dreamed it would get a gold medal.
She said: “It was a real shock.
“I wanted to make a space that was my pride and joy and a lot of visitors who were looking at the gardens said it was a space they would like for themselves, which is really what I wanted.”
The garden is available for visitors to view for a day and Miss Smith said when the event was over she felt sad to take her masterpiece down.
