Norwich City vs Ipswich Town fixture moved back to a Saturday ‘for television coverage’

Norwich City has confirmed that the first Old Farm Derby of the season has been moved back to Saturday, August 23.
The fixture was originally scheduled for the Saturday when the initial Football League fixtures were announced last month, but was switched to the Sunday on police advice.
This would have spelled rail replacement bus misery for many fans, with major rail engineering works planned that day.
In an announcement on the Canaries’ website today, a spokesman said the fixture had been moved back to the original date for TV scheduling.
The statement reads: “Norwich City’s game against East Anglian rivals Ipswich Town at Portman Road has been moved to a 12.15pm kick-off on Saturday, August 23 for television coverage.
“The first meeting between the two sides for over three years will be shown live on Sky Sports.”
The two clubs will meet for the first time since City’s 5-1 victory at Portman Road in April 2011.
Before that, the last 16 East Anglian derbies had been played with a Sunday lunchtime kick-off since the autumn of 1998 – when Norwich won 1-0.
