Judges faced tough decisions as a record number of nominations were received to celebrate the best of Norfolk sport.
Active Norfolk’s annual Sports Awards, backed by the Eastern Daily Press and BBC Radio Norfolk, aim to showcase the legacy of the Olympic Games a year on from the successful summer of London 2012.
The cream of Norfolk’s sporting achievement and service will be honoured next Wednesday at a special awards ceremony, which will be attended by Norwich City star John Ruddy.
Today, we can reveal the shortlist of finalists, whittled down from more than 400 nominations.
Vicki Hall, from Active Norfolk, said: “To have more than 400 nominations this year was fantastic. It certainly meant there were some very tough decisions for our judging panel.
“I am really looking forward to what I am sure will be a really special evening with many of Norfolk’s sporting stars, made even better by having John Ruddy as our guest.”
The 2013 Norfolk Sports Awards will be held at the Forum in Norwich on Wednesday, November 6, hosted by BBC Norfolk’s Shaun Peel.
More than 250 people are expected to attend the ceremony. Tickets are £15, including wine and canapés.
An overall Active Norfolk Winner of Winners will also be announced on the night.
