Norwich City footballer Jonny Howson paid a visit to a city school to help inspire pupils to enjoy reading.
The midfielder spent some time this afternoon with Larkman Primary School pupils who are taking part in the Premier League Reading Stars scheme - a football-themed programme that aims to boost pupils’ reading skills and enjoyment of books.
“The programme is designed to harness the enthusiasm children have for football and use that as a resource to encourage them to enjoy reading,” said Paul Wickens who manages the NCFC Study Centre.
“The children all asked Jonny questions like who his favourite author was and why he likes reading. He told them he liked Roald Dahl’s books, especially Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.
“The children were enthusiastic, and hopefully this will inspire them to complete the programme.”
About nine Norfolk schools are taking part in the scheme. The others include Falcon Junior, White Woman Lane Junior and Cavell Primary and Nursery.
