The multi-faith event which took place over the weekend saw churches in Thorpe St Andrew, Heartsease and Thorpe Hamlet present an array of colourful floral displays for visitors to enjoy.

The beautiful arrangements were mounted in four church buildings - Our Lady Mother of God, off St Williams Way, the Good Shepherd, in Thunder Lane, St Matthews, in Thorpe Hamlet, and the Witard Road Baptist Church - and flowers were also provided by the Heartsease Lane Methodists, St Francis Church and evangelical groups including the Vineyard Church.

Marie Drew, from Our Lady Mother of God, said it was believed this was the first time ever so many of the various denominations from the area had worked together on a project like this.

For a number of years members of the group of churches have met together for prayer and Lent study groups, and in 2002 to celebrate the Queen’s Golden Jubilee some of them also joined together for a celebratory flower festival.

The Diamond Jubilee flower festival was raising money for the East Anglian Air Ambulance and other good causes.
