One of the most eye-catching new events announced in this year’s Norwich City Council events guide is the 3D projections at Norwich Castle.

Illusions of walls tumbling and creatures emerging are promised across three late-night showings between Wednesday, July 4 and Friday, July 6.

The spectacular 3D projections will light up the exterior of the castle between 10.30pm and 11.30pm each night in what is promised to be a “never seen before event in Norwich”.

The best vantage point to see the castle come to life will be on the stretch of Castle Meadow between Davey Place and The Bell Hotel.

On the Saturday night the 3D projections will make way for the ever-popular fireworks from the castle to bring the curtain down on the penultimate day of celebrations.

That will follow the Lord Mayor’s Procession, which will once again bring a carnival atmosphere to the city centre, with thousands of people lining the streets between St Stephens Road and Whitefriars.

There will be an Olympic theme to the procession this year, between 5pm and 7.30pm, when the ‘Street Mayhem’ celebrations will take over and provide all sorts of wacky entertainment through until 10.15pm.

Then the fireworks will light up the skies of Norwich from 10.30pm.
