A charity shop volunteer put his best foot forward to help raise more than £1,000 for the organisation Break, which supports children and young people in need across the region.

Ivan Keeler, a volunteer at Break’s Dereham Road charity shop in Norwich, his mum Hazel Rutter and stepfather Ted Rutter raised £1,155 by walking 216 miles coast to coast from St Bees to Robin Hood’s Bay over 16 days.

Along the way, they had a couple of detours adding the extra miles to the tally and their most challenging day was four summits and 19 miles.

Ivan, who carried his Break bear on the front of his rucksack to remind him of why he was doing the challenge, said: “This was the biggest challenge of my life. I thought if I made it as far as Richmond I would make it all the way!

“I thought that in these difficult times if people could give a few pennies then I could raise some money for Break too. “I had sponsor forms in the shop and both Mum and I set up a Justgiving site.

“I am amazed and delighted by the amount of money we raised - £1,155.79 and would like to thank everyone who sponsored us.”
