A city centre spa and a Thai restaurant have closed after running into financial difficulties.

Directors of Thai Wellbeing and The Baan Phraya Thai restaurant – both on Red Lion Street, Norwich – decided to shut down the businesses when a restructure failed to boost sales.

Insolvency practitioners Parker Andrews have struck a deal to sell the customer database of the spa to The Cottage Beauty Salon on Timberhill.

Jamie Playford, director at Parker Andrews, said: 'The business underwent a restructure, following which the director was monitoring trading closely.

'Unfortunately, targets were not met, and so the director has taken the decision that the business should close. A sale of the customer database was achieved in a short timescale and we are pleased that the buyer was able to act quickly to secure this sale.'

Jemma & Nick Winzor-Saile, owners of The Cottage, added: 'We look forward to welcoming the former clients of Thai Wellbeing to our salon and we shall be contacting the clients shortly.

'We have also been contacted by some of the former Thai Wellbeing therapists and are discussing options with them.'
