Rouen Road in Norwich has reopened following repairs to a sinkhole that emerged on Wednesday.

A small section to the side of the road and on the pavement is still fenced off, however, the road is now open to traffic in both directions.

Traffic may be slightly slower than usual as vehicles squeeze around the roadworks ahead of the Norwich City match.

The road was closed in both directions on Wednesday after a parking car fell into the hole.

Nobody was hurt by the incident, though driver Jamie Clare was shaken by the incident.

He said: 'I just heard this awful clunk, and I thought I'd hit something, but I hadn't.'

The hole was caused by a combination of a burst water pipe and the sandy ground particular to the area.

The cost of the works remains unclear at the present, although an unofficial source estimated a few thousands.
