They have voiced their dissatisfaction on social media and have taken to Facebook to vent their frustrations about Sunday night's meet-and-greet event, creating the page 'Who else didn't see Danny Dyer at Mercy on the 25th May?'.

But the club's management say that everyone who paid to meet the EastEnders' star did so.

Rachel Killington, 32, of Catton Grove, Norwich, said she paid £50, plus a booking fee, to meet the EastEnders' star.

'On the night we arrived at 10pm as requested. We went up to the VIP lounge and hung around until 11.45pm, but we got impatient and went through to the main club.'

There she said she discovered Mr Dyer was already in a cordoned-off area with a large queue of people waiting to see him.

'Whilst Danny Dyer was lovely we were pushed along without even being able to have more than a few words,' she claimed. 'He was more than happy to chat, it was the staff pushing the proceedings along.

'After that he was whisked away and we never saw him again.'

She added: 'I have tweeted and emailed the club saying how upset I am and that I would like a refund. Nobody has responded.'

Other fans echoed her complaints on the Facebook page.

Carla Lees, 36, of Fakenham, also spent £50 on a VIP ticket and claims that despite staying at the club until 2.15am, she did not get to met Mr Dyer. She said: 'Never have I experienced something like this.'

But Toby Middleton, general manager, said: 'I have documentation to show that everyone who paid to meet Danny Dyer met him. I don't understand why some people have come out with these accusations.'

He said the club would not pay a large amount of money for a celebrity and then make a customer unhappy.

He added that Mr Dyer did a lap of the club, where he met 'lots of fans' and signed autographs, before spending 45 minutes in the VIP area.

He advised anyone who had concerns to make contact with the club.

Mr Dyer also made an appearance at Carrow Road on Saturday night for Jamie's Game at Carrow Road - an event organised to raise funds for those with disabilities to get involved with sport.

He also made his Soap Awards debut, which aired on Sunday. Shortlisted for sexiest male award, he missed out to Hollyoaks's Danny Mac, who plays Dodger Savage.

Mr Dyer's agency declined to comment.
