A book by a Norwich author has been shortlisted for the Costa Book Awards 2017.
In The Days of Rain: A Daughter, a Father, a Cult by Rebecca Stott, has been announced as a contender for the Costa Biography Award.
A professor of English Literature and Creative Writing at the University of East Anglia, Rebecca Stott wrote the book after her dying father begged her to help him finish his memoir.
He wanted to tell the story of their family, who for several generations had been members of a fundamentalist Christian sect known as The Exclusive Brethren.
The biography reveals her family history and explores what life was really like growing up with a group that believed the world was run by Satan.
Three other books were shortlisted for the Biography Award.
The category will be judged by freelance journalist Arifa Akbar, author Simon Garfield and Waterstones Non-fiction Buyer Richard Humphreys.
Winners will be announced on Tuesday, January 2 2018.
