North Norfolk MP Norman Lamb has moved his constituency office to a new site in North Walsham.

The Liberal Democrat MP’s new base officially opened today in the former Grandma’s Pantry shop at the North Walsham Garden Centre site on Norwich Road.

A spokesman said the old offices, on Vicarage Street, had proved problematic because there was no parking and they were not accessible to those with mobility problems.

“One constituent who recently visited the old offices in a mobility scooter was forced to sit outside in the rain while speaking to Norman because they couldn’t get in,” he added.

Grandma’s Pantry has now moved inside the garden centre.

Mr Lamb said the new office had full disabled access and unlimited free parking.

He added: “This should make it much more accessible for the vast majority of my constituents across north Norfolk, and I very much hope it will make it easier for them to come to my office and raise issues with me on a regular basis”.

The telephone number for the office will remain unchanged. Constituents wanting an appointment to see Mr Lamb can phone 01692 403752 or email norman@normanlamb.org.uk.

The office will open from 10am-1.30pm on weekdays. Its postal address is: Unit 4, North Walsham Garden Centre, Nursery Drive, Norwich Road, North Walsham, NR28 0DR. Letters sent to the old address will be re-directed.

  • yes it maybe more out of the way, but as the report stated the old offices were not accessable to wheelchair and mobility scooter users these new offices are.

  • An out of town centre location "more accessible" than an office a two minute walk from the high street? The funding must be running out for Lamb's party.

  • Lamb 'n pigeons not a good combination. All this while he has ignored the Disabled Persons Act, what a delightful person as an MP. But then ask yourself just what has his party done to help our county and country also the people?

  • I have to be honest and say Norman Lamb is one of the best constituency MPs. There's a lot I dislike about our parties, national and local, but this man is honest and hard working

  • Sorry to disappoint you but have no political affiliation, not even voted in the last three election. But it's my opinion he is a good man. You have every right to disagree. Insults are not a discussion. However, that's your right, guys, if you think it adds weight to your opinion.

  • Nobody will want to see him after the next General Election anyway. In any case, he will have cut and run to the Seychelles or somewhere by then. Scroby Sands, maybe?

  • i suppose its one way of attracting more people to this out of town attraction as you will be lucky to find the man in question there very often. still i like the garden centre and the pantry so i suppose "that" office will be a novelty

  • Will mobility scooters welcome the additional 1 mile journey from the town centre? Could adjustments not have been made to the door?
