A charity beer festival is being staged at North Walsham this weekend by the town’s Round Table organisation.

It is the second year the club has held the event, which this year features 30 beers, ciders and even lagers, all made in Norfolk.

Club spokesman Trevor Ivory said: “We are particularly pleased this year to be carrying beers from Norfolk’s newest brewer, the S&P Brewery in Norwich which opened last year.

“As well as some old favourites like Woodforde’s Wherry we also have more unusual brews such as the Panther Brewery’s Pink Panther.”

The local lagers are brewed by the Norfolk Brewhouse in Hindringham. The festival also features entertainment including the Yow Yows on Friday night and Brothers Pit and the Booze Brothers on Saturday night.

There is also free entertainment for children during the day on Saturday.

The festival, which also has a barbecue, is sponsored by many local businesses with the Hopkins Homes as the main sponsor.

Mr Ivory said all of the proceeds went to charity and local good causes.

The venue is the Scout Hut on Midland Road, which is less than a minute from North Walsham Railway Station.

Doors open at 6pm on Friday August 1 and noon on Saturday, closing at 11pm both days.

There is no entry fee but a starter pack of a souvenir glass and beer tokens starts from just £10.
