The Framingham Earl High School pupil impressed the nation by singing his version of Make You Feel My Love by Adele.

The 12-year-old was the first confirmed act in the final, having scored the highest public vote.

Ronan was speechless and sobbing when Ant and Dec confirmed he was through and nodded that he was ready to come back on Saturday and do it all again. He will now perform in the live final on Saturday in a bid to win a £100,000 and a slot on the Royal Variety Performance.

After his performance, he received praise from all four judges.

David Hasselhoff said: “Well what can I say? You came out, you took the stage and you just sang your heart out and we all felt it. You are going to be really hard to beat in this competition. Good job.”

Michael McIntyre added: “You sang beautifully. When you sing everything just goes away, you are a total natural. You nailed that song, it was beautiful.”

Amanda Holden said: “It was effortless. You are 12 years old and you are singing in front of millions of people. Your parents must be bursting with pride, as most of the nation are after seeing your performance.”

Simon Cowell said: “I saw your first audition. For me, tonight was going to be about your song choice. You totally and utterly nailed it. You have soul in your voice. If Adele is watching now, I think she would be really happy.”

Ronan said: “People have been asking for pictures and I have been recognised in the street.”

Earlier in the day, Alan Sugar tweeted Amanda Holden expressing his confidence in Ronan. He said: “What’s the name of the little Justin Bieber lookalike? I think he has potential of being the winner.”

The final will be on ITV1 at 7.30pm on Saturday June 4.
