The ladies from women’s group Barefaced Chicks presented a cheque for £5,000 to fundraising events manager Martin Green from the charity Break at Castle Carvery Racecourse in Bowthorpe.

Last year, the local businesswomen created a naked charity calendar in support of Annie Joyce, who ran the London Marathon barefoot in aid of Break.

Both Barefaced Chicks and GoGoGorillas! have raised money for Break over the past year.

Nelson gorilla, who stared along side the Barefaced Chicks in the calendar, is now a permanent resident of Castle Carvery Racecourse.

The photography was completed courtesy of the original photographer from the charity calendar.

The colourful primate was among 53 gorilla sculptures which adorned the streets of Norwich between
June and September last year,
before eventually being auctioned off to raise nearly £300,000 for the charity,

About 500 people packed into the Forum in Norwich for the October auction, all eager to see how much money the celebrity apes would make for the children’s charity – which organised GoGoGorillas! with Wild in Art – and the Born Free Foundation.

Other famous apes to go under the hammer included Bling Kong, the Ape’d Crusader and Alan.
