Iron Man, Spiderman and Batman are teaming up for a ‘super human’ feat of endurance.

The superheroes, hailing from Norfolk, are getting ready to run more than 400 miles of the east coast, stopping at RNLI stations along with way to raise money for lifeboat charity.

It will not be easy for the men behind the masks but John Figiel, Paul Greensides, Lee ‘Vinny’ Jones, with backing from support driver Evan Mitchell, are training hard and have their sights set on a £10,000 fundraising target.

“The Great Superhero Run will involve running the equivalent of around a marathon a day for 17 consecutive days as we run up the east coast, calling in at lifeboat stations on the way,” said John, of Bells Road, Gorleston.

“Scheduled for August 2015 the run will be the culmination of two years of racing and training, during which time we’re also running the Virgin Money London Marathon, a 35 mile ultra run and a number of other challenging events in order to raise awareness of our multi-marathon run.”

In costume every step of the way, the Superhero Run will take the friends from Norfolk to Newcastle arriving just in time to complete the Great North Run.

They are already in training and often take part in the Gorleston park run on Sunday mornings.

This week the heroes received the backing of the Active Clinic rehabilitation and therapy centre based at Cobholm and Lichfield Health and Resource Centre in Yarmouth and Palms Health and Fitness Club in Hopton.

John (Iron Man), Paul (Spiderman), 42, of Gorleston, and Lee (Batman), 34, of Southtown, Great Yarmouth, would love to hear from others who could offer support or donations to help in their attempt to raise funds for the RNLI.
