The Ugly Sisters showed there’s no business like snow business as they sloped off from pantomime rehearsals for an afternoon skiing.

Candy and Flossie are among the characters that will soon be taking to the stage in Norwich Theatre Royal’s pantomime Cinderella, and today they could be seen taking to the ski slope outside The Forum in Norwich. The duo had a great time trying out the festive attraction being brought to the city by iSki and which will be outside the Forum until January 5.

Flossie, played by Ian Belsey, said: “I thought the ski slope was thrilling although Candy was a terrible instructor, more of a destructor. It was thrilling to feel the wind whizzing through my wig...I mean, through my hair.”

Candy, played by Graeme Henderson, said: “At least Cinderella wasn’t here. I can’t stand that girl. We can get her to shovel up all the snow from the ski-slope and then throw it at her.”

Meanwhile the pantomime’s Prince Charming - former Emmerdale and Hollyoaks actor Matt Milburn - has been launching the Castle Mall’s Christmas Gift Appeal. The shopping centre is encouraging people to buy an extra gift and donate it to the appeal. The donated gifts will be given to Umbrella Housing Association, which provides accommodation for single parent families in difficult situations, and children from Umbrella Housing have been invited to visit Santa’s Grotto in Castle Mall.

Victoria Merrison, Castle Mall’s marketing manager, said: “The presents that are donated really do create lots of smiles and joy among the local children that receive them. We would be delighted if people could consider buying an extra gift when they are out shopping this year.”
