A family is hoping to give back to the nurses and neonatal unit that saved their baby by putting on an all day fundraising gig.
Last September Harley Tedds, a photographer from Norwich, was admitted to Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital (NNUH) after a pregnancy scan with rapidly developing preeclampsia, five weeks before her due date.
The 20-year-old underwent an emergency c-section as her baby's heart rate dropped.
Miss Tedds said: 'I got to see my little girl for all of about 10 seconds and then she was whisked away.'
The baby, named Leia Turner, weighed just 3lb 7oz with low sugars and was taken to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU).
Miss Tedds said: 'She luckily only had a two week stay on NICU, but in those two weeks the staff and nurses could not have helped more, they were spectacular, doing all they could to help me get my little girl strong and healthy to come home.
'The amount of support and love they show to every single baby and any family that walks onto that ward is astounding.'
She added: 'The day I was going home, I remember breaking down to the nurse looking after my girl that day because I just couldn't bear the thought of being over an hour away from my little girl, not knowing what would happen, but the reassurance and care that nurse showed me that day gave me some form of relief.
'I spend countless hours on that unit with my little girl and talking to all the other NICU parents, and I think I speak on behalf of all parents who have experienced life on NICU, that each and every individual that works there are amazing, and all the work they do, I could never be thankful enough.'
Miss Tedds and her family are running an all day fundraising gig on Saturday, July 28 at the B2 on Sprowston Road for the NNUH NICU, and to raise awareness about premature babies.
The gig will run from noon to 11pm with tickets £3 in advance and £4 on the day. It is free entry for NICU staff members and under 5s.
As well as a line up of original and cover bands from across the county, there will be face painting and a tombola, two bouncy castles and a burger shack.
