Plans for new houses on the edge of Wymondham are being tipped for approval next week, despite being outside the town’s development boundary.
Persimmon Homes proposals for 275 homes on greenfield land between Spinks Lane and Norwich Road, opposite the Waitrose supermarket, are being recommended for the go-ahead by planning officers at South Norfolk Council.
The land is not earmarked for housing in the Wymondham Area Action plan. However, there is a five year land supply issue in the Greater Norwich area, say officers.
The outline scheme for 9.4ha of land has received opposition from Wymondham Town Council and 14 letters of objection from residents over highway and flooding concerns and the fact it is outside the development boundary. Councillors will discuss the matter on Wednesday.
