Ten years ago, Maddie Brewer was working as a nail technician in a salon.
Having only qualified two years earlier, the mother-of-three rented a chair as she started to build her career.
But yesterday she had a reason to celebrate when she opened her second salon.
Mrs Brewer, who lives off Colney Lane in Cringleford, with her husband, Tony, opened her salon, Illusions, in Lime Tree Avenue, Wymondham.
Mrs Brewer, 50, trained as a nail technician after being a stay at home mum for 20 years.
“I had to start work because I got divorced and I had a mortgage to pay,” she said. “I decided to do a nail course.
“I wanted to earn money but I wanted to do something for me. It felt right.”
She now has six staff working for her, including her daughter, Charlotte Croft, 23.
After working at the Ultimate Touch in Wymondham, she converted her double garage into a beauty studio in 2007. She then employed a member of staff full-time and, reaching full capacity, Mrs Brewer decided the time was right to relocate to new premises and she opened Illusions in Magdalen Road, Norwich last April.
The grandmother of three opened Illusions in Lime Tree Avenue, yesterday.
“I never thought I would have my own salon, let alone two,” she said.
An open day where people can take advantage of special offers will be held on Saturday.
